A Year Round Endeavour !!!
Although the Gala is just one day of the year, it takes a mammoth effort from the Gala Committee to organise the day.
Organisation starts in August for the gala the following June. The gala committee start at a nice steady pace but become more and more frantic and busy as we get closer to gala day.
Once the gala theme is decided upon then we can start to organise the poster/ programme cover competition. The local schools also have to choose the Gala King, Queen, Prince and Princess. Then local businesses are approached to see if they can contribute to the gala in some way - donation, advert, banner, main sponsorship, raffle prizes etc
It takes a tremendous effort by all committee members to ensure that everything is covered from applying for licences, completing risk assessments, meeting with Fife Constabulary to booking stage, marquees, tables and chairs, inflatables as well as organising a walking procession, craft and community stalls and booking local groups for display entertainment.
Not to mention the time and effort involved with pulling together the gala programme, keeping the website and facebook pages up to date, making up goodie bags, raising awareness of the gala and organising the whole of the Ceilidh the night before too.
On top of all that we have the big day itself and trying to get everything in place at the right time and praying for good weather !!!!!!
It takes time and dedication to complete these tasks and would not be achievable without our group of amazing volunteers.
